Personality:
    Tails is a very friendly and humble fox. He looks up to Sonic as a hero whom he wants to emulate. Though he lacks confidence, he is always quite capable around Sonic and often helps him out. He is very intelligent and at times he has even outsmarted Eggman. For a long time Tails seemed to be perfectly satisfied with just being a "sidekick", but in Sonic Adventure he expresses a longing to become more independent. Tails has a tendency to speak often — to the point where Sonic may start ignoring him, much to the young prodigy's annoyance. He can also annoy others with his overuse of technical jargon, or techno babble, which often frustrates those around him, particularly Knuckles.

Knuckles The Echidna

Personality:
    Knuckles' personality and character traits vary between various continuities. However, he is consistently used to represent the 'tough guy' or 'loner', and his abilities remain roughly the same. Also, in almost all versions of the Sonic universe Knuckles has a tense relationship with Sonic. The game manual included with Sonic Adventure explains the nature of their rivalry; "If Sonic exemplifies the wind, Knuckles is the mountain, stern and unmovable." Faced with the solitary task of forever guarding the Master Emerald on Angel Island, Knuckles appears to be jealous of the hedgehog's independent nature and freedom. Knuckles being tricked by Eggman into believing Sonic is the bad guy has become a recurring theme in the Sonic universe, even to the point of being a running gag. At one point Sonic calls him "Knucklehead", a pun on his name.

Amy Rose

Personality:
    Amy was once presented as being kind and sweet (and slightly naive), and a good victim for holding hostage by her enemies. Her kind and caring nature seems to have given her the ability to talk almost anybody out of destruction, from Eggman's supposedly single-minded and emotionless robots like E-102 Gamma (who then released her and turned on Eggman) to bitter, revenge-seeking villains such as Shadow the Hedgehog (who after talking to her, helped Sonic save the world in Sonic Adventure 2.

Cream The Rabbit

Personality:
    Cream is seen as a cameo in Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut after finishing certain levels in different characters' Story Modes. She is flying through the sky of Station Square. She also appears on a billboard in some missions in Mission Mode.

Eggman

Personality:
    Doctor Eggman is the grandson of the scientist Professor Gerald Robotnik, and cousin of Maria Robotnik. He is an "evil" genius whose goal is to take over the world and create his own nation, Eggmanland, ruled by him alone. Originally this was by imprisoning the animal populations inside robots to serve his every whim, but now he has a tendency to build the biggest, strongest weapon he can think of, and threaten nations with it. His plans have always failed however, due to Sonic The Hedgehog and his friends.Despite his intelligence, Eggman is terribly immature. He also seems to be very egomaniacal; a vast number of his weapons and robots are built in his likeness, and his production logo is a crude depiction of his own face.

Shadow The Hedgehog

Personality:
    Shadow is a "lone wolf" who distances himself from Sonic and his friends, but will assist them should the need arise. He is somewhat soft spoken and has a calm, yet violent demeanor, even in pressing situations. Shadow is one of the darkest and most developed characters in the series, willing to do whatever it takes for him to achieve what he believes is right. He has a tendency to treat people in a callous manner and seems to care little for most of the other characters (apart from Rouge and Omega).In the anime series Sonic X Shadow is slightly less aggressive, but is still retains his violent nature. For example, Shadow attempted to kill Cosmo because he thought she was a Metarex spy. Tails then tried to protect Cosmo, which resulted in Shadow giving him a severe beating

Rouge The Bat

Personality:
    Rouge first appears in Sonic Adventure 2 as the treasure-hunting character of the Dark Story. She also drives a car in one level. She fights the boss Flying Dog (a GUN robot), and her rival, Knuckles. In the last level, Cannon's Core, Rouge is the third of five characters to go through the level.

Personality:
    Vector is known to do just about anything for money, as long as it's legal. He has a somewhat rough and rude personality, but deep down he's actually quite a kind soul, and has been known to occasionally help people for charity. Although his brash attitude and childish behavior might make him appear otherwise, Vector is in fact a very clever and capable leader. Besides money, Vector's main joys in life are music, food and sports drinks.

Espio The Chameleon

Personality:
    Espio, unlike the majority of the Sonic characters, is very serious, calm and disciplined. He is talented with computers, and plays the shamisen as a hobby. According to the Japanese Chaotix game manual, Espio especially dislikes Dr. Eggman, although it's not stated precisely why. During a cut-scene in Sonic Heroes, the usually civil and soft-spoken chameleon even threatened the doctor's life. He is also able to see through Eggman's tricks very easily in Shadow the Hedgehog, and tells Shadow to destroy the villain. Espio tries to do his job well, but due to Vector and Charmy, who are mostly goofing around, he will usually end up embarrassing himself with the rest of the Chaotix.

Charmy Bee

Personality:
    Charmy is hyperactive, scatter-brained, and not too bright. Being a child, he would rather play than work. Due to his age, he is not as skilled a detective as Vector or Espio, but he is nonetheless valuable to the team. He is also the most friendly and optimistic of all Chaotix members.

She can also propel herself by forming a fiery tornado around her body. She can utilize the Sol Emeralds to transform into Burning Blaze

    is from many years in the future of the main timeline. His introductory appearance is in Sonic the Hedgehog. His individual episode revolves around him traveling back in time with Blaze the Cat to find Sonic the Hedgehog, known to them as the "Iblis Trigger", who they believe is the cause of their world being destroyed in the future. The "Iblis Trigger" was said to be the one to unleash the "Flames of Disaster" that plague Silver's world, which are born from the half-god Iblis. Over the course of the game, Silver learns the truth about the "Iblis Trigger", and how his world can be saved from destruction.
